A MATTER OF GRAVITY

2010 Offset ink on 50 lb paper 22-1/2 x 30 in  (57,2 x 76,2cm) Sebastian Errazuriz was commissioned by art critic Adam Kleinman to create a print that would tackle the subject of Pan-Americanism. Errazuriz’s print alludes to fellow Chilean artist Alfredo Jaar’s famous artwork showing a map of the United States, titled This Is Not America. Errazuriz’s inverted continent calls attention to the historic dismissal of South America by North America, and the image seems to warn that everything could eventually collapse into its own weight.
